Who loves a fairytale. Almost all of us have been raised reading or being told stories that were based on the old fables.
The Fairy Godmother is based largely in part on something similar to Cinderella where you have a person who is supposed to work to help you and make your very dreams come true.
The story of Elena was a strong one that deals with abuse at the hands of an unscrupulous stepmother. It is a harsh look and reminds me more of the more traditional Grimm style tales.
Elena you see as a victim but she is so strong and powerful.
Reading this year’s ago I was thrilled but I always wondered if this would stand the test of time.
In my opinion this is timeless and is very important today as it was when it was written. In some ways more so. Do I believe that this would still be as high of rating as I would have given it years ago. No probably not as I am more strict with how and what I review. I also am a lot more picky than I once was and while I still find this book amazing.
