I love dystopian books and I love the young adult writing style. In The Hunger Games I get the best of both worlds.
The main character Katniss is the hero that I like. She isn’t likeable but she is very brave and sacrifices her own freedom to save the one person she truly loves her sister.
It wasn’t as action packed as what I thought however in this doesn’t really matter as it’s a young adult book. It is more important to show character growth and more of the tense feel then to actually deal with the action.
I think that this is one of the better young adult dystopian that I have read. I do think that this series did go down after the first book and that the second and third just seemed a lot weaker with a lot less emotion.
