This started off so well showing some differences that we really probably had not seen much of. Most of what we had seen were Jedi warriors until more recently who had great skills with the lightsaber and the force.
One of the main characters is an archivist style instead focusing energy on studying and excelling at that part of his training. Reath is interesting as he seems to want to learn but he doesn’t want to leave the center of the galaxy.
All of his work has been the mental work more than travel and assisting others which allows Jedi to grow.
Dez is a fun character showing another side of the Jedi which is more about action. I like the fact that he is also the former Padawan of Reath so that they can use that to bond.
The story seems very improbable and really while it is a bit over the top it is also done well. The writing is very well done.
I find that the story was slightly confusing as it seems to jump between the guilds people and the Jedi with little explanation of what is going on until it crosses over one another.
I also find that some of the facts aren’t shown enough for me so you don’t get to see what should be an interesting part especially the Nihil.
The story was good but am disappointed as I was hoping to find more of master Jorra and what happened to her and more about the Nihil and what they are. That is the only part of the book that felt weak to me.
I hope in future books this is addressed and we see more of Reath Silas and his new master.
