One thing that always makes a book great is the opening of the book. I have to have strong imagery to really start the book as it allows the feeling of the book to permeate the style. This had that strong opening but also a shocking one as well.
I really like the avenging angel type story as well. The protector as well as the violence just brings everything together so well.
This is a wonderful book. The pace was very quick which made the book feel shorter. It was a lot of fun to read. It also took a standard trope that I see very often in fantasy and made it’s own mark in crime fiction.
The characters are very well designed and they were so strong. I love a female lead that is strong and is able to do for herself. What I like is seeing the backstory as well as they did show parts from the past as well as current date.
This book was simply wonderful and really allowed me to feel that it was a fresh take on an old idea.
