The Haunting of Highdown Hall by Shani Struthers

Cynthia at first is shallow and just not something to admire.  This is just the prologue which sets up for the psychic surveys and what the main portion of the book is about.

Ruby the main character is interesting and I think that she could easily become a favourite character of mine.  I love the idea of psychic investigations as it has what I love in two separate genres crime and magic.

It almost had a feel not of a thriller but a contemporary romance style book.  I am picking up on a romance that is coming between two if the characters and I think it will be great.

Cash seems like a perfect fit for Ruby as he doesn’t believe that she is a charlatan like many would and actually seems to have a very solid head on his shoulders.  I do see a merger and he will join the team.

The story has a great pace keeping you both on the edge of your seat as well as having more sedated moments were you are left to wonder what their lives are really like.

What I like is that it didn’t feel easy for the characters to solve their case which too many of these styles of books do.  The use of psychic abilities is a great tool to move a story along however it can also be used to make it too easy for the characters to solve the case.  In this book it didn’t happen and I am grateful as it is hard to find this genre and to find an author who uses it to greatest advantage for the story.

The book made me feel so happy as it had such a great story of triumph for Ruby as well as her team.  While most of her team is kind of background character they are still integral to make this story such a huge success.

I am definitely looking forward to reading the second book and I have downloaded it from kindle unlimited.  I am truly amazed just what great authors are on that platform and am so happy that I have had a chance to really find new authors.
