Dragons of Deceit by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman

The first new Dragonlance book from the two that brought us one of the best loved worlds around.

The book lacks some of the charm that made me love the initial series.  It lacked the characters that seem relatable.

Destina just doesn’t have the same appeal than other characters that Weiss and Hickman created.  I was also never a fan of the Knights of Solomnia.  This tends to link more closely to them then what I want.

I do like seeing Dalamar who happens to be one of my top five Dragonlance characters.  It is nice to see him return but I do hope that he has a lot more of him.

I am not sure of the story as I really didn’t want another one where there would be time travel.  I think they did enough of that over the years.

I do think that it feels like a rehash of the other stories to a point especially as they talk about the time device as well as the graygem which of course are important to the overall story of Dragonlance.  I wanted so much more from the start.

Looking at the mother of Destina I really dislike her she is all about the omens which drove me nuts.  She just seems to be more of a pain and really pushes her daughter away especially after the death of the father and knight.

There is no group which is what Dragonlance was famous for is the group dynamics.  It made it more difficult for me as it didn’t seem to have the same feel of what made this such an endearing and amazing series.

It was not bad just a bit disappointing that it didn’t live up to what we had heard rumours about.  Don’t get me wrong it is a good book but it did lack the naunces that made meove Dragonlance
