This book is what started off my love of the Sith as well as that not all people who are mired in the darkside of the force as as evil as they claim.
I really enjoyed seeing Des and his story unfold especially as he while not a good person he had a good personality that due to issues outside of his control forced him to walk the path with the brotherhood.
One thing I really like is taking a new name when you join to become a member of the Brotherhood of Darkness. It also was great to see him using the name is father used to torment him Bane.
Bane and his journey is not what I would wish upon anyone. Losing his mother at a young age to then be raised by a father who abused him and allowed friends to abuse him. Then having to fight for his life and flee so that he could live.
Training as a Sith is also very difficult and he has a lot of setbacks in his time as a trainee on the ancient sith world.
However he manages to do something I didn’t expect and that is to remake himself and become one of the best ever to hold the title of Dark Lord of the Sith.
So starts the rule of two. Of the Sith who will survive to become the ever powerful master and one day rule the galaxy
One of the best books from legends or any star wars and still has items that could easily be used in canon
