The year has been very good to me. While I wasn’t as much into reading but I pushed through with some writing and really improved on my skills there.
I didn’t really participate in as many blogtours as I used to as I want to really get a chance to read my backlog.
So far I have read 270 novels in total but quite a few of them were rereads. Skipping those that are rereads going to give some mentions of the books that meant the most to me this year.
First mention is that one of my favourite series was launched again with a new book. Dragons of deceit by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. While not a 5 star read it was a solid book and it has more to come in the trilogy to come. Looking forward to it but I don’t believe this book fully showcased what I always loved about Dragonlance.
The second was Bernard Cornwell and his book Sharpe’s Assassin. This is a later book in the acclaimed Sharpes series. I am hooked on the writing style and love the historical aspects and the non sugar coated history.
The third is the gates of Rome by Conn Iggulden. Much like with the entry above it is historical fiction and doesn’t make history sound all light and fluffy. This one deals with The Roman Empire which had more draw for me.
Fourth goes to Gods Galore by Rupert Stanbury and to me it was the great humour as well as the whole writing style. It reminded me to a point of early Terry Pratchett. Just was so much fun
Fifth I have to say was Netta Newbound and Marcus Brown with I am Lunatic. This just made for great reading and it kept me entertained and I hope more is to come.
There are many more but these ones have been special
