When I was younger I loved watching Disney animated movies that were based on fairytales. Early on I knew that these weren’t the standard and that in fact originally they were much darker.
One of my favourites was Aladdin which for me was such an intriguing premise. The middle East was also something I enjoyed learning about.
Twisted tales is an interesting take on these old tales that are what if’s. Those types of stories are what makes me get excited alternate history or so.
The author has a nice style which allows you to feel that even though the books are longer it’s like reading a easy quick read .
I am enjoying the story and I don’t see a huge amount of changes from what I recall from the Disney movie. I think that it was great to see the many sides with more details then the movie showed.
After getting about a quarter of the way throihj the book that’s when it diverged from the original tale and made it a lot more interesting.
Reading this I can picture Aladdin and Jasmine as well as Jafar and even genie and Iago. Also in the voices which makes this book even more funny.
I think the twisted tales was a great idea and the fact that you show the characters in different ways makes things great.
