I read this originally longer ago then I care to admit. This book is something similar to the old D&D cartoon with a lot of the same characteristics.
This book is not a writing masterpiece where it has the best classical style writing. What it did have is great storytelling with some wonderful characters
Andrea is a new person to roleplaying games and really isn’t all that into it. Her character is one of the best and most well rounded character. She isn’t like the others who use roleplaying as an escape. She is a smart lady who is friends with Carl
Carl is the ultimate dilettante who can’t stick to one career path or even one hobby. He also seems to have a thing for Andrea but also has had a fling with Doria.
Doria is the one I didn’t figure out early as she is not the traditional player. She plays the healer and she is a bit of an attention seeker. However in the long run she is my favourite as she has issues and she doesn’t always allow it to cripple her.
Walter is the ladies man and the big man on campus. Football star and able to flip from woman to woman. He shows that in his reaction but he has a heart of gold.
Jason is one of my least favourites as he is very overconfident and has the attitude that he can and will do anything to succeed even if it means destroying those he calls friends.
Lou is arrogant and a pain in the ass. When I was younger he was my favourite as anything with wizards had my attention. Now I can’t stand the character and find he is one of the weakest ones.
Ahira is a dwarf who is one of the most fun characters. He is a bit conservative when leading the group but he has the ability to do a berserk attack which helps him and his team. He also has much honour and wants to ensure his people are well looked after.
This book while I rate it as a 4 star read there are some items that didn’t work for me with the writing but it’s one of those fantasy books that I do push for others to read .
