As many know this is my favourite book of Mercedes Lackey. It is the start of the Arrows trilogy which begins with the life of Talia and her becoming one of the most important people in the Kingdom.
Talia is a particularly well written character. In this book she is 13 years old and she is trying to build trust back into her life.
Talia in this book she starts to get more confident and starts to build friendships. She also has to take a royal brat who if she doesn’t smarten up with never rule Valdemar.
I read this years ago and reread this every year or two as I just love the way that the book starts and how the series makes the entire world most mystical.
