Starting out I am not really sure I am enjoying this as much. There was no introduction that would give you any idea of what this could be about.
Jumping right into the story can work but for me it didn’t in this case as you had no idea of the characters or anything. In this case since it’s a debut novel it should have really had an intro.
Sabrina seems like such an interesting character though I feel she doesn’t have enough in the first bit of the book to really mark her as a fully well designed character.
I think the book has a good idea and that the writing is fine. I don’t think the execution of the novel was where it should have been but I must give props for the author to write the story for himself.
The question is would I give another book written by this author a chance. The answer is yes I would even though I didn’t feel that this was executed as well as what I am used to it wasn’t bad either.
All in all this was okay but needed some work for me. I rate this about 2.5 out of 5. It just had issues that I found it harder to get past. Writing was solid.
The novel gets better as we go along especially with how this is written. I still believe that it has a lot of improvement that is required to take this from where it is to great. I will still stick with my assessment for 2.5 stars as I see a lot of great parts but there are other aspects that need improvements. It’s a good start.
Having watched this author on tiktok I do find that this book is very political in nature. His views are really pushed in certain areas especially about the way Earth is. I think to a point that does colour the book for me not in a bad way but just different. N
