Books of the year
This year I have went and done it differently and just put all the books that meant something to me and that were great.
I was lucky this year in that I had many different genre that represented some of my top read including memoirs, autobiographies, crime , sci-fi and fantasy. This year has probably been my most eclectic year since I started blogging
My true book of the year was very hard to choose as there were so many amazing reads this year.

For me the best debut book would be Mute by Richard Salsbury. I was very pleased to be on the blogtour for this book and was very pleased with the style of writing and the characters that were created. It also was very inclusive book that dealt with non-verbal members of society.

For book of the year for me will be HomeSafe by Mitchell Consky. This was a memoir and was such a great read to see that even in the face of death how people can still maintain their personality as well as still show that death isn’t as scary as it could be. I got to meet the author at the Toronto Book Fair and talk to him for a bit and I was very impressed with his poise and how well he spoke about his book even though it had sad notes to the book. It is what convinced me to read it. Also this is a Canadian writer which I have never had as a top in my books.

Very close second was 9 Lives by 35 by Mary Sanders which to me just shows the life of a professional athlete and since it was gymnastics related it made it even more for me. I loved the book and it’s rare that non-fiction will make the top lists for me but this year I had a lot of great Canadian content that I was able to feature on the blog
