This year I decided as part of my challenge to myself that I would read some of the classics. A total of five classics I was going to read.
The first one I picked up was The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald. I read this years ago or partially read it. I knew I didn’t like it the first time. On the second read I do not find that the book has improved much for me.
I found the writing had a lot of run on sentences that didn’t make sense. It had too much of this and not enough meat to the story and the characters didn’t really pull me into the story.
It was better than I remembered but I really struggled to find much good about the book. Don’t get me wrong I believe that it was well written however for me it just was not really what I like. Maybe it was no real action or maybe it was just how many of the paragraphs felt too long.
