January Round-up

January was an amazing month of reading for me which is usually true. When I start the year I try to start it off with a bang and get some of the shorter reads.

In January I read a lot of books in fact 69 was the total number of books read. It was a great start to my yearly challenge.

This year I am doing the Goodreads reading challenge in which I chose to read 150 books which is an easier goal for me.

However I have also decided to flex my reading muscles and try doing something I haven’t done before.

First is to read at least 5 Classics. If I read 5 that is about 3% of my total books to read. So far I have read 1 which was by F. Scott Fitzgerald and was The Great Gatsby. Despite me trying to love it I just felt that it was not a really great book. In fact I definitely was on the dislike side.

I also plan to read 5 native American authors and I have a number of them that I have brought into my home.

The other plan was to read 5 plays. I have read 1 which was Tennessee Williams and the Glass Menagerie which was very interesting and while not normally a fan of plays this was very fun.

In January reading 69 books a lot of the books were more history style or biography style. For me that is always fun as reading history is dry at times but the hourly history books does make it simple.

The best of the books was a crime book by MA Comley which was Where Did She Go which is part of the Sally Parker cold cases. It was a 5 star read.

The next one is solo levelling 8 which is a manga of Korean origin. It was another 5 star read but much easier.

I was pleased to read Unstoppable by Maggie Nichols. Such a great gymnast who has her innocence taken from her by the people who should have been protecting her. One of the best memoirs which shows more about what Nassar did to these women. If you love gymnastics this is definitely a memoir you need to read.
