I am starting to reread the Justice series by MA Comley. This is the first of this series and was the first book I ever read of this author.
Lorne is a character that makes you love her. She doesn’t take the easy way out and she has to put up with so much.
Being a female and a detective has got to be hard especially when many people see it as a male dominated industry. You can see that she had to fight tooth and nail to get to where she is. Her hard work yes it paid off but what was the cost.
In this book we see Tom and I had forgotten how much I hated him from the very first moment he seemed to open his mouth.
We also meet Jacques who at first meeting I didn’t like him. He was arrogant and that set me off a bit.
Pete is still the best he has a heart of gold and really pushes to be the best that he can. He always felt like he was a big brother to Lorne.
It’s been so long since I read this series that I have forgotten a lot of the intricacies in the plot lines. I can say that I am still just as impressed with cruel justice as I was when I first read it.
The story in and of itself was simply amazing. I loved the topic and the revenge aspect. The investigation which was peppered with personal life crises just made it a book that is still ranked as one of the best books I have read.
Sean Roberts comes in and makes me so annoyed as the way he treats Lorne just rubs me the wrong way. It seems that he doesn’t care for his staff and treats them more as they are beneath him which is far from the case with any boss/employee relationship. Everyone deserves respect and he shows a clear lack of that with Lorne.
A stellar story that has you wondering from beginning to end what is coming next.
