Tales from the empire is definitely an interesting take on some of the characters that we saw in the past.
I think overall it was good however there also seems to be the issue of a full story not being told. I wanted so much more for the Barris Offee one and felt a bit cheated with it. I know a redemption arc wasn’t what I wanted but more so seeing her as she would have become after her trial. I still think that they should have executed her like they were going to do to Ashoka. However the story was good and shows a different version than what I anticipated.
The healer story is interesting and more of what I initially thought she would be based on older material that was in legends. It shows more of a going back to what she was vs what she became in Canon. She seems so wise again just as her master Luminara was.
The inquisitors are such an interesting thought and they have such a vital role to play in the new empire. We see it in Rebels a lot as they hunt for children that has force potential. The fact that you see acts of heroism as well in these stories and it’s not been about the Empire winning but more about what happens during the time of the Galactic Empire.
The Morgan ones were good especially her initial meeting with Thrawn. I think that it shows a great part to the story that you do see in Ahsoka. Her stories were probably the better ones showing that she is ruthless but also why she is that way and seeing the combative nature of hers. Her past was what made it more interesting especially loved the combat scenes
My final thoughts on this was definitely it needed a lot more episodes and should have had more than most two members in it. I would have loved to see the story of the grand inquisitor and how he turned. Who knows maybe there will be more to come.
For the most part the stories were kept so open ended that they can add more for the franchise however I find that it could hurt the franchise as well since it doesn’t show an ending but rather just the continuous loop. They need to start having solid finishes to their stories instead of what they do now. Don’t get me wrong open ended stories can work however it seems to be a thing with Disney and Star Wars to make things so that we don’t get any closure.
