USA is going to be stacked with some of the best gymnasts around at the Olympics. With going back to 5 gymnasts per team instead of 4 this will allow for a greater selection for the team as well as potentially to have specialists.
For the all around the following gymnasts are who I would choose
Simone Biles : she has so much difficulty that it will be hard to prevent her from winning the all around gold medal. She brings so much to the table that she easily can outscore everyone by at least a full point.
Shilese Jones : she has pushed so hard you can see that she would make a great all around person. She has what the USA will need and she can fill in on any event without an issue and has potential to medal on any event.
Those two for me will be the ones who would make it for the all around.
For vault: Simone and Shilese definitely as they are the all around. For the third place that’s hard as USA has too many top vaulters. Many will think Jade but I would rather not go with her as she is good but I prefer Josselyn Roberson. She is one of the better of the USA vaulters.
For uneven bars again Simone and Shilese. Shilese has what we need and can medal easily. For third I would go with Suni Lee as she has proven how amazing she is on uneven bars and if she can add in the the full twisting Jaeger noone on USA team can beat her.
Beam: Simone and Shilese as well as Suni. Suni is amazing on beam and has proven it very quickly. We know she can handle the pressure of the spot.
Floor: Simone and Shilese. I would also put Jordan Chiles for this one. She is beautiful on the floor and I think she has the chance to medal.
With these five women it could easily work. I do think that there are others who could potentially fill in as well. Leanne Wong as well would work and she has the lines that would be beautiful. Jade Carey could fill in for vault and floor but I think that would be a mistake as they already have so many who are just as good or better.
Many believe that Gabby will make it however she has been inconsistent and the only way she makes this is with uneven bars. USA is weak there compared to others and those who are amazing on bars might not be able to get in. I do believe that Gabby is good but she should have returned to competing a year ago and not more recently as she hasn’t left herself enough time to get competition ready and seasoned.
