Search for Truth – an Enedrial Story

The Enedrials Family is a famous family that has been around for many centuries.  They were one of the ancient families of magic, but they were not known to be the nicest.  They consorted with Demonics with no thought for what the rest of the magical community needed.

It has been many centuries since the Enedrial Family had created the Spirit Warriors as well since they were thought to be a powerful family.

The family was not as strong or powerful it was thought as they once were.  What they didn’t know is that the true leadership and power were in hiding awaiting the day they would reveal themselves and take over the community.  They had no ties other than to each other and to the Demonics.

Shane has spent more than 100 years hiding his family connections.  The Enedrials were a disappointment as they created the Unspirit Warriors.  He was a Spirit Warrior which was the opposite of what his family has ever stood for.

It was his shame that his family was evil and didn’t care for anyone but themselves.  He has spent so long feeling out of place, that he didn’t belong.  The ruling caste of the family were three males from the three original sons.

Shane was from the daughters side and because she was able to break the curse of only having girls because his Grandma had gotten pregnant by a true demon.  His father was a half demon and his mother was also a person that was perverted in her desires, she was an Angelic.

Very few knew what his parentage was, all they knew was that his oath had been accepted.  It was a convenient way to keep himself hidden.  His special talent of Telekinesis was something that is rare.

Shane has created a home, it was huge and had many indoor training facilities.  It had a forge as well as it had outdoor training facilities including a thrown weapon place as well as bow training and riding of horses.

He has also made several acrobatic features to his home and there was a valid reason Shane was in love with Ana.

Ana was a simple lady who had spent her time as a circus entertainer and one that was very agile and was a high flyer.  She was beautiful with long dark brown hair and olive skin with hazel eyes.  She was simply ravishing and looked out of place in the Austrian mountains.

She wasn’t all that powerful as the only thing she could do is feel emotions that were around her.  She did have some skill with it but it was journeyman level only and at that just barely.  She also could ride a horse like no one had ever seen.  She was a trick rider.

Shane was sitting in his study reading over some of the documents that had appeared that morning from the Spirit Warriors.  They were deployment of troops and what was going on throughout Europe and Asia.  He was a major which was quite high up in the ranks.  He always said he didn’t want to go further; he liked leading smaller groups and had refused 4 promotions already.

He was shocked at what he was seeing, the Chinese Cadre was getting more aggressive same with the French cadre.  He had met a lady who was from France’s Cadre by the name of Astucia.  She was originally Portuguese but she was turned by a French vampire Alexandre.  Now he was gone and no one knew where.

Ana entered the room smiling at Shane.  “What’s happening Shane you are frowning so much”

He smiles “Something is off France and the Chinese Cadres are going more on the attacks.  I have a feeling that my team will be sent  soon to look into what is happening.  Honestly I have a feeling I will be sent to France as I speak French.  I think they will send Ella to China.”

She nodded “So that is why it looks like you had your closest friend die.  France and China Cadre are always up to something.  When I first started out I spent a lot of time in France.  Queen Selene is a piece of work.”

Shane forgot all about her spending a lot of time in France especially around the different Vampire Courts.  Selene was a psychotic lady who he knew had ordered executions of many people.  Astucia was her right hand and had fled the area after she betrayed both Sire Alexandre and Selene.

“You are right.  You spent time around Selene who seems to be instigating a lot right now.  What do you think of her or what did you feel about her”

She shrugged “You know that they are not all evil.  Astucia is a very sweet lady when she isn’t working.  Alexandre is dangerous and very cruel; he has no respect for women.  Selene is very personable however she definitely is a snake in the grass.  She can be very helpful but she is the one person I wouldn’t trust as far as I could throw her.  She doesn’t respect boundaries and laws.”

Shane nodded and she understood a lot about the workings of the mind from talking to Ana.  Her empathic ability was not as strong as what others were but she had the sense and knew the mind.  “Thank you.  I have heard Alexandre is currently in trouble and has fled France.  I don’t know where he is but I don’t think he is the current threat right now.  Astucia has left the employ of the Queen and has escaped.  We believe that she is with the Emperor.  Selene we don’t know what will happen as she is dishonoured to a point.”

She smiled “You need to relax Shane.  Soon enough you won’t be able to.”. she put Shane’s hand to her swollen belly.  The baby would be here soon enough and then there would be no rest for the wicked.

He laughed “Ana, I can’t wait to be a parent with you.  It is going to be rough.  There is one more mission that I have been ordered to go on.  I have 6 months to prepare with the team.  Lt Colonel Avraz is going to be not happy if we don’t get the job done”

Avraz was a Portuguese man who had joined the Spirit Warriors.  He had somehow been granted a higher level role fairly quickly.  He was a great tactician in hand to hand single member fights.

He seldom deigned to talk to those beneath him.  When he was needing to deal with those he didn’t feel were his equal he spoke down to others.  It wasn’t good and he didn’t understand that he was seen as unapproachable.

———–

It had been 6 months and Ana and him were happy.  They had a beautiful baby girl that they named Aline.  She was a good baby who seldom cried and she seemed to relish the move of both her father and her mother, being completely comfortable with either.

Shane loves being around his family and knew that this next mission would be his last for the foreseeable future.  He was taking time off to spend with his family.

It was great and he was looking forward to more babies in the long run.  He would be happy to retire from the Spirit Warriors and become a full time father.

He scanned over the documents that had been left.  His job and that of his team was to travel to a small Polish town that had some Demonics living there and causing trouble for the local government.

Reading the documents he could see that the Polish town was in severe distress.  They were being slaughtered or controlled so that the Demonics could live there in peace and quiet.

As he was thinking of how he was going to push through and save the town.  Getting rid of the Demonics was their only chance.  He had seen so many demonic people and he could guess their strength.  He knew it would be hard to get rid of his own people as few knew that he was part demonic.  If it got out he would be shamed.

He had looked at the reports and when he did he could see that the ones that were in the town were from the sect known as Fiero.  The Fire Sect  were strong more powerful than the other sects.  They were vicious fighters who had no compassion and would take what they wanted and when.  There was one other demonic and that was from the Theoles which was the mind sect which controlled minds.  They could put on a persons body like humans put on clothes.

These sects normally didn’t get along and would fight with each other over who should control the demonic world.  Fire was where his father and grandfather hailed from which was shocking as he didn’t gain the strength from the quarter of himself that was demonic.

Shane spoke Fiero, Theoles, Erathole, Enedrial, Spirit Warrior and unspirit warrior plus French, English and German.  Erathole was rare it was the earth demon language and only his family spoke Enedrial which was linked to Unspirit warrior which was linked to spirit Warrior.

Shane hugged and kisses his wife and baby daughter goodbye as he headed out for his mission.

He had spoke to Lt Colonel Avraz saying he was leaving on his mission and that he would save the town Katowice.  The meeting seemed odd, it was as if something was going on behind the scenes and they didn’t want him to know what was happening.

His team consisted of 5 people in total one of which was him.  The other 4 were Alinha, Zabarak, Devlin and Glynn.  They were a strong group with Glynn being able to scan huge amounts of land with her mind to find people.

Approaching his group “Sorry to roust you out of your nice warm homes.  We have been ordered to Kowlice, so you know the score there are many Demonics in there.  Most are Fire Sect but at least 1 Mind Sect which means we couls be facing Thrawls.  We don’t want to hurt them Glynn your abilities will be needed to break any control over the Thrawls.  Zabarak you will need to keep the group shielded as much as possible.  Especially from the damage spells that the Fire Sect can do.  Devlin your ability to control the temperature will be of great help especially with Fire as you can quench it.  Alinha your abilities or speed is going to help as we may need the quick attacks.  If we do this right everyone will survive.”

It was going to be one hell of a fight and who would win was anyone’s guess.  Even Spirit Warriors were no match for a huge amount of Demonics.  They were strong both physically and they also have the ability to cast fire magic.

Approaching the town he heard the rustling of the leaves and as he turned he saw a diminutive man with markings on his face and arms to show he was a low level member for the Enedrials.  “Unspiritoia, spiritoua, inspiratin”.  with there he fell and died.

They approached the dead man.  “That sounded like our language but different.  Do you know what he said?”

He nodded and was still in shock so he answered “It is an ancient language of a family that is seldom seen today.  It is a warning one of the strongest warnings in the language.  It means literally to beware, betrayal imminent.  The last not was family.”

Alinha just glared “What language is it though”

“It’s a language that is linked to spirit and unspirit warriors.  It is ancient beyond belief it’s called Enedrial. “

“How did you learn it” Zabarak asked

“That’s simple I am a related to the Enedrials distantly and learned so much before I decided to enlist with the Spirit Warriors.”  Obviously what he said was a shock as noone really knew much about his past.  “We don’t have time for this now.  Should we survive, I will tell my history.”

He was definitely worried as the warning was the highest level and it meant that someone was betraying him and his family was in danger.  Who would have warned him from the Enedrials as he wasn’t in good standing with any of his people.

——-

Ana was sitting in the parlour as she awaited the baby to wake up.  She had been contacted by Avraz who had been a family friend for going back generations in Portugal.

She didn’t really care for Avraz he was not the kindest of people and he tended to push things the way that he wanted.  He didn’t care who he hurt along the way so long as he was compensated.  Who could love somone like that.

He entered the parlour “Hello Ana”

She looked up at him “I am sorry Avraz but Shane has gone on a mission and I am alone with the little one.  I have so much to do so I will wish you a good day”

He glared anger flaring in his eyes “I am not here for Shane but for you.  You were meant to be mine as per our family rules.  You had to buck with tradition so you could be with that idiot who cares for the weak”

The anger was palpable and she could even sense his feelings.  She wished she hadn’t as what she sensed was pure obsession for her.  This was scary and she couldn’t say she understood why.  Neither had ever wanted marriage or so she thought with the other.  How wrong she had been.

“You betrayed our families.  How could you marry him?”

She wasn’t happy with this “I didn’t love you in that way.  I do love Shane and we are good together.”

He glared at her. He drew out his dagger it was serrated and looked very menacing.  He grimaced in pain “Put that away Avraz.  How dare you bring weapons into my home.” Ana had said angrily.

His eyes showed the evil in his heart.  He had let the anger and hatred seep into every part of his being.  The mental images that were penetrating her mind she knew she was going to die.  She wasn’t a strong fighter as she was trained for the Circus.

She opened her mind and projected her love into her babies mind.  She didn’t want to leave her baby or husband but at least she could use her powers to ensure that her daughter knew she loved her.

She didn’t scream as the knife was slashed across her throat.  She bled out quickly thankfully so she didn’t suffer to much.

—–

Shane had two swords out as he was fighting the fire demons.  They weren’t as quick as he was and of the 6 Demonics he had already disemboweled three of them with his dual wield swords.  his team had dispatched another two.   One fire and the mind were all that was left.

He could feel the power echoing around.  Something was very bad here and he knew that many innocents have died.

Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small mirror that he pushed a bit of power into the device.  “My Lord the job is done.  Shane will be useless for years and you will be able to do whatever you need to do.”.

The cruel voice came back.  “Avraz you have done me a great service.  I know you wanted her for yourself but she betrayed everything that we are and she had to pay the ultimate price.  Return to your work you will be contacted again when I need your help”

He laughed maniacally and quickly cast his return spell the only spell that they knew.  He would be back at headquarters awaiting his next move.

——

It had been a hard fight but his entire group had survived with some injuries but nothing too serious.  A trip to the healers once they got back home wild suffice for all of their needs.

They reached headquarters and he sent his people off to be tended to by the healers that were always in attendance.

He could see that there was more people then normal.  What could have happened when they were off in Poland.  There is no way anything major happened.  “Shane the boss wants to see you.  I don’t mean Avraz either but Jagged.”

Shane nodded and walked towards the Generals office.  He knocked on the door and waited for the gruff “Enter”

He entered the room and saluted the General before approaching him.  “You wanted to see me Lt General Anderson?”

“Shane there is no easy way to say this.  When you were on your mission we had four break-ins at homes or Spirit Warriors.  They were all from your team the final break-in was at your place.  I am sorry Shane but Ana was killed in the invasion.”

He felt lightheaded and then like he was swimming underwater and had lost his air.  He fell to the ground and began to sob uncontrollably.  How could Ana the only person who had loved him unconditionally, be dead?

In the span of a day the family he had desired more than anything was gone.  He stopped for a moment realizing that the general hadn’t said anything about his daughter.  “You haven’t mentioned Aline?  Is she …..”

He quickly cut off Shane “She is perfectly fine Shane.  We have her in the hospital with the nannies as we weren’t sure who could take care of her.”

He sighed “I will take care of Aline.  She is of my blood.  I will take her home with me and we will fplan the funeral and then we will get revenge.”

Jagged shook his head “I am sorry but you can’t go back to Austria yet.  Its a crime scene and we are awaiting more information and if we can get a post cognitive person.”

He swallowed “You won’t required a post-cog. My house is magically set up to show historically what has happened.  All we need is a mage to get them to show what was viewed.  I have some contacts that we can use if you don’t have anyone you trust.”

“We have someone I don’t want you there when it’s reviewed. Go spend time with Aline and try to get this out of your mind “

——–

Shane was sitting in the nursery holding his young child Aline.  She had her mother’s hazel eyes and he wondered if she would have the gifts of her.  She reminds me so much of Ana.

He saw Deirdre the lady who had been helping him for the last month or so.  She was a larger lady and was very dark skinned.  She was an African lady from Tanzania.  She was kind and had the otherworldly powers.  He knew that she wasn’t normal and she could create shields out of nothing.  This was a bonus as it still hasn’t been figured out who was responsible for the death of Ana.

She approached him and gave him a hug across the back of his shoulders.  “I have found out some news Shane.  They don’t want you to know about what they have found.  They know who killed your wife.”

“What?  What else did you hear?”

She grimaced “The wards were untouched and it showed that the person was let into the house by Ana.  Shane it’s not good.  They are going to arrest Avraz.  The Lt Colonel is the one who decides to betray you.  They are scared you will kill him which is why they don’t want to say much”

He nodded that maybe he would have massacred Avraz when the news broke of his wife being murdered.  Now it was different he had to think of Aline, she was the only part of his life that wasn’t messed up. “They can put him away. I won’t attempt to kill him.  I can’t take the only parent Aline has left away from her.”. He turned back and just cuddled his daughter

It was something he never expected that he would ever say and he certainly never felt that he would be able to move past this.  However he knew that the ordeal was far from over as Avraz would have to stand trial for what he did.

Shane had a lot of plans to make as he wasn’t sure he could continue to be active in the Spirit Warriors with a young daughter.  He also wasn’t sure he could continue on when it was his Commanding Officer who had destroyed his life.

He needed to figure out who he was to report to now and then he would talk to them about what he should be doing.  He knew he needed to take a break from his duties and that would mean a longer leave of absence than what they would probably want.  For him he was thinking that it would have to be till his daughter was an adult since he needed to ensure he survived so that he could raise her.

You never knew what the future would hold, those who did knew that the future was always in motion and couke change in an instant.

in the next installment the trial will be underway.
