He Who Fights Monsters

this is a book that was picked up because of a mass reading by an online bookclub.  had it not been for this I may never have heard of this one tried to read it.

this is a very interesting concept of reading LitRpg fantasy.  it is more like a game where everything has a value and the story is more secondary.

don’t get me wrong there is plenty of story but it is very basic and almost as if it was the story you would play as if in a video game.

Jason is very funny and I am picturing a younger man that has the mindset that he doesn’t understand what he is doing but continues to believe that he is infallible and immortal.

Jason has such a big mouth and doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut.  That’s what I really like about him even if sometimes I want to throw him through the wall. He is very helpful and has a kind soul which is also one of the reasons I like him.  He is just as crazy as what I claim to be.

The other characters just don’t have the interesting character flaws that Jason does.  This isn’t necessarily bad, it just shows that there is something lacking with most of the adventurers that just doesn’t seem to fit in with Jason.

This is a large book series as well as such a long book.  Generally I dislike the longer books as I find that they have too much filler in them.  This one has so much in it and there didn’t feel like any filler was placed.

A lot of characters are part of this book and sometimes that can lead to confusion. I was confused with so many characters at times and I just had to focus on Jason, the main character.

All said I loved the book for what it was.  It was a simple read and it reminded me of the video game stories that are from Elder Scrolls or even the older style of games that are massively multiplayer.

Simply amazing to read something that I have never really read before.  This was my first foray into the LitRPG genre and I will say it had so much of what I always loved about fantasy.
