Glimmer: The Green Bear

Once upon a time there was a realm full of so many wondrous creatures in all the various colours.  Magic ran over the realm.   The realm was part of the greater Kingdom known as Pride of Aurum. It was led by the wondrous King D who was a kind, funny and generous ruler

He cared about all of his people deeply and kept them protected from outside threats.  He was known to be just as well as smart.  He had ruled the Pride for many years, taking the Kingship when he was very young.

WillowGleam was his favourite of the realm because that is where he learned of his power over the very earth itself and how to control it.

As time went on he could feel that the realm was damaged and there was no one who was able to help heal the land.  He had been waiting for years to find someone who could heal the land and make the kingdom whole again.

WillowGleam Woods was a magical place where flowers bloomed all year round.  There was a huge waterfall with a stream that had so many fish.  The water sparkled like a diamond and tasted as fresh as melting snow.

WillowGleam was full of magic where the animals all had special traits and could be any colour under the sun. One did question the will of the Realms; they just accepted that all around the Wood was special.

It was so special that other life knew nothing of this magical place and to this day it is a hidden realm which only children can even get a glimpse of.

The realm was so full of huge forests full of vibrant trees and flashy flowers.  During the spring an amazing bear was born.  He was unique in one way, he was a bright green which had never been seen before.

A green bear this just wasn’t possible but he was such a good bear and always was happy and wanted to play with those around him.   His parents feared for him as he was different from the other animals and they knew he would be teased for his differences.

He was a bear that loved nature and he was special to his parents who knew that a green bear was unique.  They loved him dearly but too many bad things happened and many animals were lost every year.

Glimmer started school and all the other bears made fun of him for being very different from them.  Feeling alone he wandered out into the woods.

After a long day in class being teased by the other bears and having a run in with a rather prickly porcupine that was pink simply called Miss Porcupine he has been crying and decided he needed some time to himself

He wandered out into the woods alone following the river he saw a very handsome Red Fox and lapping at the water ever so gently.  His parents had told him to never go to the Wood alone as it was dangerous at the best of times and other animals were scared of the bears.

Glimmer was lonely and walked cautiously up to the river and bent his head down and licked at some water.

The Red Fox walked up “Be careful Little Green Bear.  The water can be dangerous for one not used to the swift moving currents.

The bear glanced at the Red Fox, a little scared as no one wanted to talk to him let alone give him any form of friendly advice.

“Thank you Mrs Fox”

She looked him up and down and her fur seemed to shimmer even more.  “What are you doing out here alone?  Also please call me Maple”

He stopped looking at the water “No one wants to be near me.  I am a green bear and I don’t have any friends.  I needed to get away.”

She looked at him “You are different and that can be scary Little Green Bear.  Differences aren’t always bad, just look around you.  This place was starting to fade and you coming here has livened it up.  I am impressed it has been so many years since an animal like you was born.  You are the one who can save the realm”

He looked shocked at the fox being so nice to him.  He was a freak as he always thought but Maple had said that he was the one who could save the realm.  He looked around and saw what she was saying WillowGleam was fading in this area; it was muted in colour and the plants were wilting.  As he touched a flower it suddenly bloomed to life showing a vibrant purple were before it looked to be slowly losing its health.

Glimmer has been told many times by his papa and mama bear not to talk to strangers.  It was something one didn’t do.  He quickly fled back to the safety of his home not talking to the fox at all.

Little did he know that the fox Maple was to be one of the most important people in his life.   He was scared but not in the way he thought he would be.  His instincts said he could trust the fox but all that he had been taught was to be wary of strangers.

He went to see his parents who were a darker green bear and a beautiful rose gold bear.   He told them about his encounter.  They both smiled and Daddy Bear said “Your powers are coming in you Glimmer.  Maple has been a force in all our lives and is the mentor who has trained all children for as far back as memories happen.  she is special”

Mama Bear looked at her son “You must learn to trust your instincts they will be the best chance you have of knowing if they will be good for you.  Always trust your instincts and if you can’t trust yours, trust ours.”
