Good Witch TV Series

Being a huge fan of the main actress as she played on JAG as Major Sara Mackenzie or Mack.  Catherine Bell plays the lead character Cassie and it is more iconic in some ways than her other characters.

I am on the first season and I have been anticipating being able to watch this show for a long time and just never had the chance or the network to do it.

I am really enjoying the show as it has a good story even if at times it feels a bit juvenile at times.  I has a charm to it that makes it very fun to watch.

In some ways this reminds me of charmed in the first few seasons as it was quite often about the story.  Unlike with charmed this focuses more on story and not on the magic.

What I really appreciate about this show especially in the earlier seasons that the magic is more subtle.  It’s not all about the powers and flinging Levin bolts around.

The characters:

Cassie nightingale –  the lead female character who was in every season.  She has the most powerful intuition of all of those who have it.  She is special and shows so much compassion despite the losses she has endured.

Sam Radford – the main male character who moves beside Cassie.  He is a doctor and he can be a pain to deal with but he has a good heart even if he doesn’t like to show it.

Nick Radford – the son of Sam he is a brat for the most part who for part of the series seemed to be on a self destructive streak due to his parents divorce and moving to small town nowhere.

Grace Russell – the daughter of Cassie.  She lost her father at a fairly young age and also has the intuition of her mother.  She is young and idealistic but at times takes shortcuts to try and fix things which can have many unintended circumstances.

Mayor Tisdale – this character makes me laugh as she is over the top and has a crazy side.  She is a great leader despite her crazy antics.  She dresses wild and she has a lot of blister but has a lot of great qualities for her town.

Abigail Purshing – the cousin of Cassie and one of a handful of witches that are part of the family.  She isn’t always a good person and seems to leave chaos in her wake for a good part of the series.  She is a fun character and she can be selfish.

Stephanie Borden – she is the local cafe owner and a close friend to Cassie.  She has a heart of gold but quite often she is man crazy which puts her off her game a lot.

George O’hanrahan – the grandfather of Grace from Jake’s side.  He has so much compassion and is the handyman.  He always acts with much integrity and shows a gruff blister at times.

Ryan Elliot – this is one character I never really liked.  He just felt hollow and maybe that is part of the reason why he didn’t stay on the show for that long.  He was a real estate agent and seems to like to sell his soul to the highest bidder.

Brandon Russell – step son of Cassie he becomes a cop and has a pure heart always trying to do what is necessary.  He is a well designed character but he is a minor character most of the seasons.

Tara Russell – wife of Brandon who is a doctoral candidate and loves Brandon but you can tell that she is going through some issues that could have ended their relationship but what she does is help keep the family together.  She is glue for the family.

The later seasons weren’t near as good as they focused much on prophecies and some of my favourite characters moved on.
