On the 11th day of the 11th Month in the 11th Hour we remember those who fought to grant us the freedoms that we have today.
We do a moment of silence to honour those who gave their lives for our rights and freedom. Today I honour those men and women.
My grandfather was a veteran who fought in World War II and while I never had the chance to know him as he died years before I was born. I always feel closer to him today and am very proud of his service.
Not being a fan of poetry I always loved the poem written by Canadian poet John McCrae who was from Guelph Ontario. The poem was written about his time in the War and in particular the battle of Ypres which happened to include Flanders Field. The poem was published December 1915 and to this day it is quoted more than any other poem.

In many ways they have honoured the physician and poet McCrae. They put a stamp out to commemorate what he did.

It is because of this amazing poem that we wear red poppies during November to honour our veterans.
