My Thoughts
As many know I am a huge fantasy fan and I love crime. What could be better than a combination from the master of the Paranormal Thriller Mark Tilbury.
Claire is the main character and she writes for the dead. Death letters are the written of word of the loved one who has passed away sometimes by violent means and other times of normal. This is an interesting gift that was granted to Claire. It is also one I haven’t seen before that it is written word instead of the person talking to the dead.
Dawn is a mother looking for answers as to what happened to her son. She feels desperate and will try anything at all to find out the truth. I have a weird feeling about her that there is more to her than meets the eye.
Ryan the son of Dawn is an interesting character. He is very naive about the world we live in. From what I can see he is not quite as capable of handling situations that involve an emotional maturity that he doesn’t have at 19. He takes people at face value when in reality he should really try and be more cautious.
The flipping from Claire’s point of view to Ryan’s was done extremely well. Sometimes the different views makes it more complicated but in this case it is done the way it should be and has everything I could ask for.
The story itself is quite interesting and I love how creepy this makes me feel. almost makes me feel that spiders are crawling across my skin. It is amazing that feeling something is really making you feel emotion.
I love the fact that there is so much dealing with a minority group and how everyone is trying to find out what happened and to prevent this happening again.
The finale of this book had me smiling, as justice is blind. This is definitely not a standard style of ending. I enjoyed the fact that the killer was already known and it was more about finding the person and ensuring justice was served.
The epilogue wrapped it up nicely making for the somewhat happy ending. All in all this book was simply put creepy and amazing. I expect nothing less from Mark Tilbury and this honestly is why I love reading his work.
